RDF continues to support government institutions in 12 countries to progress on digitalization. In this month’s newsletter, we will focus on RDF’s impact in Rwanda. In late 2021, RDF won a contract with the Rwanda Minerals, Petroleum and Gas Board (RMB), funded by the GIZ German international cooperation agency. The contract is under a regional project addressing trade of conflict minerals in the great lakes region. RDF continues to support government institutions in 12 countries to progress on digitalization. In this month’s newsletter, we will focus on RDF’s work in Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone just published its EITI Validation Report auditing the year 2019. The report gives credit to the MCAS system and the GoSL Online Repository used by the National Minerals Agency. RDF continues to support government institutions in 12 countries to progress on digitalization. In this month’s newsletter, we will focus on RDF’s work in Ghana. In Ghana, the Minerals Commission announced that companis should start sumitting applications online from 1 November. The Ghana Mining Repository allows companies to register and, upon approval manage their licences. All the major mining companies are already submitting their production reports online and have done so for over a year now. So far over 800 production reports have been submitted. RDF Revenue Specialists and the Programme Team is working tirelessly in all our partner countries to enable governments to run as efficiently as possible, despite the pandemic.In this month’s newsletter, we will focus on RDF’s work in the mining sector. On 27 January, RDF organized a webinar with mining authorities from 10 countries. The webinar started with a presentation of the latest MCAS version 5.3 and good practice related to configuration and license processing workflows. Over the past months, we have adapted our clients’ systems to match their needs, some moving to the cloud to allow distance working, others moving the systems back to their local network servers, as offices re-open. In Sierra Leone, the valuation module has now been introduced on MCAS, allowing valuations of diamonds and gold exports to be done using the system. The past month has been busy at RDF with all our Revenue Specialists working with client institutions to continue the services offered, in spite of the setbacks experienced due to the pandemic. In Liberia, our team successfully conducted FUSION training with the Liberia Revenue Authority over Zoom platform. 10 civil servants from the Liberia Revenue Authority participated and are currently gearing up for the next round of training sessions. In Cameroon, RDF developed a new functionality to manage audit procedures, which is currently undergoing testing from the client institution. xCAS version 5.2 will start rolling out this week. The most significant new features is document verification using QR barcodes and a new module for the valuation of precious assets like gold and diamonds for export. xCAS now also allows the use of GovIn to submit reports; companies can complete GovIn reporting forms when promted about due reports in the the Online Repository portal. The new valuations module facilitates valuation of diamonds in parictular, including issuing the Kimberley certificate. The Revenue Development Foundation is successfully venturing into 2020 with projects in over 10 countries in Africa and Central Asia. While a new FUSION and Golvn project was initiated in Senegal, Ghana recently saw the kick off of phase 2 of MCAS project. Throughout 2019, several training sessions were held and upgrades were done to our systems in Malawi,  Zambia, Mali, Liberia, Afghanistan, Congo and Sierra Leone. In addition, over 8000 companies submitted taxes using RDF’s Golvn in Cameroon and an unprecedented level of collaboration through a digital platform between the Customs, Ministry of Mines and Geology and the Tax Department was observed in […]
