RDF Software: Right of Use

RDF is a non-profit organization that provides software systems for government institutions. Government institutions (“the client”) in developing countries can use the systems for free, without any associated software license fees.

RDF owns the copyright and the intellectual property rights to the systems it provides. The software may be installed and managed on RDF cloud infrastructure on behalf of the client or installed on government server infrastructure and managed by the client. Installation of the software on client server environment does not change the copyright or property rights held by RDF. The client is not granted rights to sub-license the systems to third parties, or in any way utilize the system for the benefit of such third parties.

The client is granted access to the software including all the rights which are necessary to use the software in accordance with the intended purpose and for internal use of the client only.

RDF may provide upgrades to the software whenever improvements have been added to the software. RDF distribute software features added under projects with the client to all other clients. The development of the software is considered an effort of inter-governmental collaboration, and the right of use assumes acceptance for this model.
