Ghana
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources in Ghana, in cooperation with the Australian High Commission to Ghana and RDF launched the Implementation of the License Administration System Project for the Mining Sector in Ghana in May 2015.
Funding is provided by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) for a two-year term and will be managed by RDF, while working closely with the Minerals Commission. The project will involve other stakeholders, including the Ministry of Finance and the Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative. The two-year project is aimed at improving the effectiveness, accountability and compliance of the management of mining licenses and associated royalties in Ghana.
RDF is contributing to building capacity in the Mineral Commission through training and day to day technical assistance. RDF is providing an automated Administration System, MCAS, designed to make the processing, issuing and monitoring of mining licenses more efficient. Ultimately, this project will lead to increase of government revenues and increased investorās confidence in the sector.
